Vendor Highlight: Kristian Designs
This week I wanted to share a bit about one of my favorite vendor friends here in Savannah- Kristian of Kristian Designs!! You guys- this girl is a FLORAL GODDESS. We worked together on a styled shoot recently (check out that blog post here!) and she completely blew me away with her talent and how fun she is to be around. I made her sit down recently to talk a bit about her and her business- and, if I haven’t stressed this enough already, she’s just the coolest. Take a look!
Tell Us a Little About Yourself!
My name is Kristian Reinbold. I am 22 years old and am born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia which is just an hour away from Savannah. I graduated high school from Southeast Bulloch in Brooklet, with a love and passion for floral design. I competed in Floral Design for the State of GA and won State and received silver at Nationals. I began working at local flower shops as a sophomore in high school. I started my business, Kristian Designs, when I was nineteen in April of 2016.
I absolutely love my job and love my brides even more! Floral Design and being a Wedding Florist has brought so much joy to my life and has shaped who I am today. I truly love what I do and couldn’t imagine a better “job!”
If I am not doing a wedding, you can find me outside kayaking, spending time with my honey, or relaxing on the couch with some kind of sugary snack. I also really love spending time with family and friends whether its a road trip or just the movies. I am a sucker for all things food, and love finding new places to eat at. I love coffee and have to have it every single day of course. I also love walking downtown Savannah, it just makes my heart happy. I also love spending time with my sweet husky pup named Dazie. I have visited places all over the US and have also traveled to Italy when I was 16. I have hiked a volcano and also have a weird knowledge of natural disasters.
I really love flowers and my absolute favorite flower is a tulip. I hope to one day visit the tulip fields in Holland!
What made you choose flowers?
Originally, my dream job in school was to be a gymnastics coach. I was previously a gymnast for 15 years and thought that is what I wanted to do out of high school. During my sophomore year, I went out of my comfort zone and took a horticulture class. This quickly changed my mind on what plans I had for after finishing school. I fell in love with plants, flowers, every thing about them and taking care of them. I then became in charge of the school greenhouse, which made me more interested in flowers. I then competed in Floral Design for Central Region of GA and won 1st! I went all the way to Nationals and received silver. This not only made me realize what I wanted to do, but also grew my knowledge and passion for flowers.
What has been your favorite wedding or event to work on?
Honestly, there is no way I could pick a favorite. I love each and every wedding and event so much, and absolutely love getting to know all of my brides and clients. My favorite part of a wedding day would definitely have to be walking in with the brides bouquet. Seeing the look on their face makes my heart melt and makes me so happy! I pray for each and every couple before I walk in with their flowers, and to see their reaction and hug their neck is the ABSOLUTE BEST THING!
What is one thing you want every bride to know while planning their big day?
If I had to tell them one thing, I would say, make your wedding day reflect you, your fiancé, and yalls love story. Be unique, be yourself, and don’t play by the rules. I do not think you have to have everything everyone has at their wedding. I think you should make it your own and do things that represent you as a couple.
After working in the wedding industry for this long, have you taken note of anything that you’ll want to use for your wedding one day?
There are a few things that I have definitely said I want to use for my own wedding one day. I really like the idea of a coffee bar. I also do not want a traditional wedding cake, but would love to have either donuts or a waffle “cake.” I want to incorporate my dog in my wedding so I would definitely have flowers for her either on the leash or on her collar. I also really love the variations of candles in different size and colored glass. Those are just a couple things I have definitely decided on. I really want my wedding to be very me and definitely different.
I’m so happy that the industry brought us together, and I can’t wait to work on many more weddings together! Definitely go check her out on Instagram and Facebook, and of course stop by her website to see more of what she does.
Thanks for tuning in! I promise I have more content coming up soon- it’s a slow process getting these things together, but it’ll be worth it- promise.
